STREETCARS | STREETSHOES

TTC Russel Carhouse at Queen East Street, Toronto

Between dressing and covering oneself up there is an abyss. Covering oneself up satisfies a need. Dressing means telling one’s own story. The Toronto streetcar system comprises many streetcar routes in Toronto, Canada, operated by the Toronto Transit Commission, and is the largest tramway system in North America in terms of ridership, number of cars, and track length. Footwear always represents, in more or less casual or voluntary fashion, the personality and the world we live in. Playing with the assonance of Streetcars and Streetshoes, I photographed "torontonians" footwear in a typical working day. I believe this project gives the sense of the town and the attitude of the people that live there. The full series consists of 50 images.
